Our client is a growing multi-faceted contractor who is seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Manager to join its civil engineering division. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Operations Director, the Health and Safety Manager will lead the development and implementation of robust safety strategies. The individual will be responsible for fostering a positive safety culture, ensuring that all site activities align with current UK legislation and industry best practices.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in civil engineering or heavy construction, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the unique risks associated with large-scale infrastructure works.
The Role- Conducting comprehensive site audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Developing, maintaining, and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Providing expert advice to site management teams on complex health and safety issues.
- Delivering internal safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks to site personnel.
- Liaising with external bodies, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and client representatives.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is highly desirable).
- Proven experience managing health and safety within a civil engineering environment.
- In-depth knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
