We are seeking an Operations Director from a Civil Engineering Contractor background to join our prestigious client. This is a very autonomous role seeking an ambitious individual that can help this company achieve their future visions and targets.
As an Operations Director, you will bring your expertise in pre and post contract management and will be pivotal in the delivery of existing and future projects from inception through to handover. You will also be responsible for managing your department team along with growing it in line with the business growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead in the delivery of Projects that can exceed £300M in value
- Manage and develop Junior and more Senior members of the team
- NEC3/4 Contract management and administration upstream and downstream
- Be a key player in the Business Development side of the business
- Be part of the recruitment process when hiring additional members of staff
- Liaise and negotiate with the companies clients and points of contact
- Hold and manage stakeholder meetings
- Ensure appropriate records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues
- Provide contractual and commercial risk advice to the Commercial team and wider Technical and Construction Delivery teams
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities
- Lead project financial monitoring and reporting, interrogate outputs, implement actions
- Contribute to, and implement, margin improvement plans
- Produce cashflow forecasts and maximise cash position
- Support the programme and project teams to ensure full compliance with contract and corporate governance rules
- A related Degree such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying etc is highly desirable but not a prerequisite.
- A previous career history in the Civil Engineering industry
- A solid work history of leading teams/businesses in this industry
- An excellent track record of year on year growth
- You must have the right to work in the UK
- Educated to degree level
- Civil Engineering experience
- Main contractor and/or joint venture experience
- An experienced user of the NEC3-4 suite of contracts
- Have, or be working towards, chartership of a relevant institution
- Able to prioritise the delivery of the objectives of their role
- Good communication skills
