Our client is a premier Tier 1 infrastructure provider seeking a visionary Business Development Director to spearhead growth within the Extra High Voltage (EHV) sector. This is a high-impact leadership appointment designed for a professional who can navigate the complexities of the UK’s evolving energy grid. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and securing large-scale CAPEX projects and long-term framework agreements, focusing on supporting the UK's transition to a decarbonised network, specifically targeting infrastructure upgrades between 132kV and 400kV.

The Role

  • Market Strategy: Developing and executing a multi-year growth strategy that targets National Grid, TOs (Transmission Owners), and major renewable energy developers.
  • Pipeline Management: Identifying emerging opportunities in substation construction, underground cabling, and overhead line (OHL) refurbishment.
  • Tender Leadership: Working alongside the pre-construction and bid teams to ensure technical proposals are commercially viable, competitive, and innovative.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Cultivating C-suite relationships across the energy sector to position the organisation as the partner of choice for 'Net Zero' infrastructure projects.

The Person

The successful candidate will possess a formidable blend of technical literacy in high-voltage systems and a proven track record of multi-million-pound contract wins. Extensive experience in a senior commercial or business development role within the EHV, Transmission, or Power Generation sectors. Proven ability to secure contracts with values exceeding £100m. Exceptional negotiation skills, with a sophisticated grasp of NEC4 and bespoke infrastructure contracts. A robust professional network within the UK energy and utilities space.
