Our client is a leading infrastructure & engineering specialist. They’re seeking a high-calibre Senior level Commercial Manager to spearhead commercial operations across the South of England. This pivotal role focuses on delivering complex Civil Engineering workstreams within the highly regulated Water and Rail sectors (NEC 3/4).
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, ensuring that regional projects remain commercially viable, risks are mitigated, and long-term client relationships are strengthened through transparent and professional contract management.
This opportunity would suit a Commercial Manager looking to move into a more senior role or someone in a similar role looking to move to.
The Role
- Commercially run large scale NEC 3/4 Projects
- Contract Management: Administering NEC and JCT contracts with precision, managing variations, and overseeing claims and dispute resolution processes.
- Be responsible for the financial health and contractual integrity of a diverse portfolio.
- Financial Oversight: Managing the regional P&L, providing accurate cost forecasting, and ensuring robust cash flow management across all M&E frameworks.
- Strategic Leadership: Leading and mentoring a regional team of Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors, fostering a culture of commercial awareness and professional development.
- Procurement & Supply Chain: Overseeing the procurement strategy for sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure value for money and adherence to project specifications.
- Risk Mitigation: Identifying commercial risks at the earliest opportunity and implementing effective mitigation strategies to protect the business’s interests.
- Build on an existing team.
The Person
- Expert-level knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts (a prerequisite).
- The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the unique challenges associated with Civil Engineering delivery on high profile commercial / Industrial projects.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience within the Civil Engineering industry ideally from a contractor background. Proven expertise in this complex field and understanding the nuances of specialised equipment and technical installations.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at a senior level.
