The Role
We're looking for an experienced Interaction Designer to join a specialist digital team working on a technically interesting, user-focused platform for a major public sector client.
This isn't your typical government website or back-office system.
You'll be helping shape a sophisticated digital product that brings together complex data, real-world user needs and intuitive interactions.
The challenge is to take information that can be technical, detailed and difficult to interpret, and turn it into something people can navigate, understand and act on with confidence.
You’ll have the opportunity to get hands‑on with the design, influence how the product evolves and work alongside a multidisciplinary team that values good design and practical problem-solving.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing intuitive user journeys, task flows and interaction patterns for a complex digital platform.
- Creating wireframes, interactive prototypes and high-fidelity designs in Figma.
- Turning complex data and technical requirements into clear, usable interfaces.
- Using insights from user research to inform design decisions and improve the overall experience.
- Applying and extending design systems and reusable component libraries.
- Collaborating with User Researchers, Developers, Product Managers and other specialists throughout delivery.
- Ensuring designs meet accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Taking ownership of design challenges and contributing ideas throughout the product development lifecycle.
- What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in Interaction Design, UX Design or Product Design.
- Advanced Figma skills, including prototyping, components and developer hand-off.
- Experience designing complex, data-rich or transactional digital products.
- A solid understanding of user-centred design, interaction patterns and accessibility.
- Ability to translate research findings and technical requirements into effective design solutions. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working autonomously within agile, multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid UK SC clearance (does not necessarily need to be actively sponsored in your current role, provided it remains eligible for transfer or reinstatement).
- Nice To Have
- Experience with GDS standards or the GOV. UK Design System.
- Experience working across Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live delivery phases.
- Background in public sector, regulated or enterprise environments.
- Experience designing interfaces for complex operational systems or data visualisation tools.
- What’s on Offer
- £50,000 - £60,000 salary (pro rata) for an initial 6-month FTC.
- Employee benefits.
- Potential for the contract to extend.
- Hybrid working, with client-site attendance as required.
- The chance to work on a technically challenging digital product with genuine real-world applications.
- A collaborative team where you'll have meaningful input into the design and direction of the product.
- ASAP start.
