Senior Management Accountant

ALF Recruit have partnered with our client a PE backed service sector organisation who are looking for a Senior Management Accountant to join the team at their Head Office based on the outskirts of Oldham with excellent motorway links and onside parking.

This is a hybrid role with an office based presence around 3 days a week.

Role Purpose

In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting an expanding service provider organisation by delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting—contributing to strategic decision-making and reinforcing the financial strength of the company –there is commercial exposure in this role

Around 50% of the role is ownership and delivery of the Monthly Management Accounts pack in its entirety and the other part of the role is Commercial and Project work looking at tenders, pricing, in life contracts and partnering with individuals around the business both finance and non finance

Some Role Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process and prepare consolidated monthly management accounts
• Manage and develop two direct reports: Assistant Management Accountant and Purchase Ledger Assistant
• Provide insightful commercial analysis, including profitability reviews and support for tender processes
• Oversee the preparation of VAT returns, investor reports, and audit documentation
• Ensure accurate reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls across the business
• Contribute to the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts
• Support refinancing activities and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) processes
• Assist in producing high-quality board reports and strategic financial updates

What you will need

• Proven experience as a Management Accountant within a comparable or larger organisation (Turnover over £70m plus)
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels across all levels of the business
• Experience in managing or mentoring junior members of a finance team
• Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA)
