We’re working with a private equity-backed financial services organisation with a turnover of c. £60m, operating as part of a wider group. The business manages 8 entities and 5 trading brands, with a strong growth trajectory and continued investment across systems, people, and commercial capability. This is a highly collaborative environment where finance plays a central role in driving business performance, not just reporting on it.

The Role
This is not a traditional Financial Controller role. We’re looking for a commercially focused Group Financial Controller who will operate as a true business partner to senior leadership, combining financial control with cashflow ownership, stakeholder engagement, and performance insight. You’ll be at the heart of decision-making providing challenge, guidance, and clarity across the business, ensuring finance is driving outcomes, not just reporting numbers.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted Finance Business Partner to senior stakeholders across multiple business units (large part of role)
- Take ownership of cashflow management and forecasting, ensuring strong visibility and control across the group
- Ownership of forecasting across multiple business trading brands and delivery to senior stakeholders (F,P&A)
- Oversight of the delivery of the monthly management accounts with clear, actionable insight
- Provide commercial challenge and support, influencing strategic and operational decisions
- Translate financial data into meaningful insights for non-finance stakeholders
- Identify risks and opportunities, driving proactive decision making
- Maintain robust financial controls, governance, and reporting standards
- Drive continuous improvement across processes, systems, and reporting
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team
About You
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Proven experience in a commercial finance / business partnering role (not just pure reporting)
- Strong experience around cashflow, forecasting, and working capital management
- Ability to influence and engage with stakeholders across all levels
- Confident communicator able to challenge and support in equal measure
- Background within financial services or a regulated environment is advantageous
