ALF Recruit are working with a well-established accountancy practice to appoint an Accounts Assistant, joining a firm that genuinely invests in its people through study support and a clear route for progression.
This is a role for someone who wants to build a proper career in practice rather than just tick along in a job. You'll be working predominantly on Xero, handling client bookkeeping and getting hands-on exposure to accounts preparation, with regular direct contact with clients. It's a role that rewards curiosity and a willingness to learn - the firm is looking for someone they can genuinely develop.

What you'll be doing
- Managing client bookkeeping using Xero as the primary system
- Assisting with the preparation of year-end and management accounts
- Liaising regularly and directly with clients on their bookkeeping and accounts queries
- Building strong working relationships with a varied portfolio of clients
- Supporting the wider team with day-to-day accounts tasks as they arise
- Developing your technical knowledge with the backing of structured study support
What we're looking for
- Some experience in bookkeeping or accounts within a practice environment (AAT studier or equivalent experience welcomed)
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Comfortable communicating directly with clients, confident and personable
- A genuine desire to progress - keen to study towards a professional qualification
- Organised, with good attention to detail across a varied client portfolio
- A team player who's equally happy working independently
