Blackburn | Hybrid | £70K-£85K DOE | Full Time Permanent ALF Recruit are working with an established and growing PE-backed professional services business to recruit a Financial Controller for a key senior position within its internal finance function. Operating across multiple locations and with ambitious plans for continued growth, the business is looking for an experienced finance professional who can take ownership of its financial reporting and controls while also acting as a commercial partner to the CEO, Board and wider leadership team. This is a broad Financial Controller position combining financial leadership, commercial finance, business partnering and strategic input. You'll lead the finance team, take ownership of management and Board reporting and play an important role in improving processes, systems and financial visibility across the business. There will also be exposure to M&A activity, including due diligence and integration, making this particularly suited to someone who wants to be involved in the wider growth and development of a PE-backed organisation. Benefits: £70,000 – £85,000 depending on experience Hybrid and flexible working 33 days holiday including bank holidays Pension with salary sacrifice option Healthcare and wellbeing support Electric car scheme with free onsite charging A range of additional benefits including Cycle to Work, mortgage advice and employee/client referral rewards Regular company social events Ongoing professional development and progression The opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth of a PE-backed business, with exposure to the CEO, Board and M&A activity The Role: Working closely with the CEO, Board and senior leadership team, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of finance alongside providing the commercial insight required to support decision-making and future growth. Your responsibilities will include: Acting as a strategic finance business partner to the CEO Leading, managing and developing the internal Finance team Owning the monthly management accounts process and associated management information Preparing, reviewing and presenting monthly Board reporting Developing the existing Board pack to improve the quality and relevance of financial information Leading the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes Producing and maintaining regular flash reporting Owning WIP, utilisation and fee analysis Driving improvements across WIP and debt management Monitoring financial performance against agreed KPIs Developing and measuring financial and operational KPIs across the business Providing commercial analysis and recommendations to senior stakeholders Identifying financial and business risks and developing appropriate mitigation strategies Supporting and leading improvements across finance systems, controls and processes Working with senior stakeholders across multiple business locations Supporting M&A activity, including financial due diligence and post-acquisition integration Managing loan note reporting and associated financial requirements Profile: You'll be an experienced, qualified finance professional who is comfortable combining strong technical finance knowledge with a commercial and business-partnering approach. Ideally, you'll have: ACA or ACCA qualification Previous experience operating at Financial Controller, Head of Finance or a similar senior finance level Strong management accounts, budgeting and forecasting experience Experience preparing and presenting financial information at Board or senior leadership level Strong commercial awareness and the ability to interpret financial information to support business decisions Experience leading and developing a finance team Strong Excel and wider Microsoft Office skills Experience using Xero or another cloud-based accounting system Confidence working directly with CEOs, Directors, Partners or other senior stakeholders The ability to identify areas for improvement and implement changes across systems, processes and controls Strong communication skills with the ability to make financial information clear and relevant to non-finance stakeholders Previous exposure to M&A, due diligence, business integration or a PE-backed environment would be advantageous but isn't essential.
