Condition Monitoring Technician Norwich – Field Based (Covering EA) Full time, permanent Mon – Friday Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 Van, Fuel, IT Package Field based covering East Anglia 25 days holiday + BH Located in the heart of Norwich, our client is at the forefront of the condition monitoring and reliability sector. Due to continued growth they are now seeking a new Condition Monitoring Technician to join their dynamic and rapidly growing team, on a full time permanent basis. The ideal candidate will be an apprentice trained and/or qualified individual with good general mechanical engineering knowledge as well as an understanding of machinery fundamentals, such as; motors, gear boxes, pumps, compressor and similar. Previous condition monitoring experience would be advantageous, but not essential, as full training will be provided. This role would likely suit someone early in their career with about 3 – 4 years of experience that is ready to take the next step in their career, with a company that can offer a variety of benefits and career paths. Job Overview: As a Condition Monitoring Technician, you are the frontline representative of our company, playing a crucial role in the collection and initial analysis of condition monitoring data, such as vibration analysis, ultrasound, thermography, and oil analysis, across client facilities. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy of data collection, the early detection of equipment issues. As a key point of contact, your professionalism, and commitment to service excellence directly impact customer satisfaction and the company’s reputation. The Condition Monitoring Technician works closely with the engineering and reliability teams to ensure that clients receive timely and effective service. This position requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established processes and protocols. The Condition Monitoring Technician also plays a key role in communicating findings and any immediate concerns to clients, contributing to overall equipment reliability and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Data Collection and Initial Analysis * Perform on-site data collection using condition monitoring techniques, including vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound, and oil analysis, according to established protocols and industry standards. * Ensure the accuracy of data collection by properly setting up and calibrating equipment before each use. * Conduct visual inspections of equipment to identify potential issues such as improper installation, damage, or signs of wear. * Perform initial analysis of the data collected, identifying any immediate concerns or potential equipment failures. Documentation and Reporting * Document all collected data accurately and ensure it is stored in the appropriate databases or systems for further analysis. * Maintain up-to-date records of equipment information, including asset codes, images, and bearing details. * Provide basic observation reports to clients before leaving the site, summarizing any issues or findings. * Communicate critical issues to the Condition Monitoring Engineer and the client, ensuring that urgent matters are addressed promptly. Customer Communication * Serve as the on-site representative of the company, maintaining professional communication with clients throughout the data collection process. * Communicate any obstacles or issues encountered during data collection to the client, especially if data from certain assets cannot be collected due to operational constraints. * Ensure that previous recommendations are reviewed with the client during each visit to understand what actions have been taken and to follow up on outstanding issues. Customer Interaction * Act as the face of the company, maintaining a positive and professional demeanour at all times while interacting with customers. * Build and sustain strong relationships with customers, ensuring their expectations are met and their needs are understood. * Provide timely updates and clear communication to customers, ensuring transparency and trust in all interactions. * Arrive on-site punctually and uphold the company’s image by maintaining a clean, smart appearance, ensuring both personal and equipment presentation reflect the company’s high standards. Equipment Maintenance * Ensure all condition monitoring equipment is clean, well-maintained, and functioning properly before and after each use. * Report any equipment issues or failures to the Condition Monitoring Engineer or Reliability Manager for resolution. Safety and Compliance * Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure compliance with company, client, and industry standards during on-site activities.Participate in safety programs and contribute to a culture of continuous safety improvement within the team. Team Collaboration and Development * Work closely with the Condition Monitoring Engineer to ensure data collection and reporting align with overall reliability goals. * Support team members by sharing knowledge and assisting with technical challenges as needed. * Participate in training sessions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance technical skills and knowledge. General Performance Measurements: * Data Accuracy: Precision and reliability of data collected, with minimal errors or need for rework. * Client Satisfaction: Positive feedback from clients regarding professionalism, communication, and responsiveness to their needs. * Timeliness: Completion of data collection and reporting within the expected timeframes. * Safety Compliance: Adherence to safety protocols and active participation in safety programs. * Equipment Maintenance: Proper upkeep of condition monitoring equipment, ensuring it is ready for use at all times. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or coursework in relevant fields (e.g., mechanical or electrical engineering, condition monitoring) is preferred. Required Knowledge: Understanding of machinery fundamentals, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and similar equipment. Advantageous – Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques and tools, such as vibration analysers, thermography cameras, and oil analysis kits. Experience Required: 1-3 years of experience in a technical role related to condition monitoring, maintenance, or reliability engineering or similar Skills/Abilities: * Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures. * Good communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members. * Proficient in basic computer skills, including data entry and use of standard software (e.g., Windows, Word, Excel). * Solid problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently
