CNC MACHINE OPERATOR (MILLING)

Monday - Friday

8.00am - 5.00pm

£32,000 - £34,000 per annum

Overtime paid at x1.5

20 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, plus an additional 3-4 days over the Christmas period.

After 5 years of continuous service, holiday entitlement increases by 2 days, followed by an additional day for every further year worked, up to a maximum additional entitlement of 5 days.

The Company

Our Kent-based client is a specialist manufacturer of commercial and industrial burners, supplying complete combustion solutions ranging from equipment for existing boiler systems through to bespoke solutions for new buildings and industrial power-generation applications.

Due to continued workload, they are looking for a CNC Machine Operator to join their workshop team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience operating CNC milling machines within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Previous CNC setting experience would be advantageous but is not essential, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operator looking to further develop their CNC machining skills.

Mazak / Mazatrol experience would also be beneficial, although candidates with experience operating other CNC milling machines and controls will be considered.

Quality is at the core of the company's operation, so the successful candidate will need to demonstrate good attention to detail, an understanding of engineering drawings and the ability to consistently produce components to the required specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC milling machines safely and efficiently.
  • Manufacture components in accordance with works orders, engineering drawings and production schedules.
  • Load and unload components and materials.
  • Select and load appropriate tooling as required.
  • Monitor machines throughout production runs and identify any machining or quality issues.
  • Carry out basic machine adjustments where required.
  • Check completed components against engineering drawings and specified tolerances.
  • Carry out dimensional inspection using appropriate measuring and metrology equipment.
  • Accurately record completed work and production information.
  • Report machining issues, tooling requirements and production delays to the Workshop Manager.
  • Support machine changeovers and setups where experience allows.
  • Maintain CNC machines through routine operator checks and basic maintenance
  • Follow company quality procedures and Health & Safety requirements at all times.

The right candidate will have

  • Previous experience operating CNC machines within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • CNC milling experience preferred.
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work accurately and consistently to specified tolerances.
  • Experience using measuring equipment to check finished components
  • Ability to monitor machining processes and recognise potential problems.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to follow works orders and production schedules.
  • Ability to work independently once instructed as well as part of a workshop team.
  • Good understanding of workshop Health & Safety.

Desirable - not essential

  • Mazak / Mazatrol experience.
  • Experience carrying out machine changeovers.
  • Basic understanding of feeds, speeds and cutting tools.
  • Experience with both CNC milling and turning.
  • Manual milling or turning experience
