About the Role: The Chief Mechanical Engineer is a hands-on dynamic role that will ensure our historic venue runs smoothly. You'll be a supportive team player with strong technical skills, overseeing maintenance, repairs and inspections while helping ensure we're event-ready around the clock.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure mechanical systems across site are compliant.
  • Supervise and monitor subcontractors and third-party suppliers, delivering safety briefings and site inductions.
  • Deliver a structured repair and maintenance program by appropriately scheduling inspections and testing.
  • Act as the responsible person for water hygiene for the property.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all assigned work orders.
  • Provide support to the engineers assisting with the installation and maintenance of mechanical services.
  • Proactively report any maintenance and Health and Safety issues through logging system, Halo.
  • Support maintenance issues on nominated live events.
  • Participate in out of hours on call and emergency call out roster.

Essential:

  • Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services or proof of pathway of recognised apprenticeship.
  • Water hygiene / Legionella awareness training certificate L8 Legionella awareness.
  • Extensive mechanical engineering experience or in similar field.
  • Familiarity with CAFM systems.
  • Experience working in a Grade II listed building and able to apply a conservation-led and heritage-sensitive approach.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to talk to people at different levels and brief subcontractors.
