Alexander Steele are delighted to be supporting a successful manufacturing business who are hiring a newly created Logistics & Freight Coordinator position. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation at the centre of its international supply chain operations.
Overview
The Logistics & Freight Coordinator will play a key role in managing international freight movements, container bookings, and 3PL relationships to ensure the efficient, cost-effective, and on-time delivery of goods. This role acts as a central link between logistics partners, internal teams, and international stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, visibility, and smooth operational flow across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Book and manage international container collections in line with required transit times and customer commitments.
- Track shipment milestones, monitor carrier performance, and escalate delays when required.
- Ensure on-time departure and arrival across ocean and road freight channels.
- Verify freight invoices against agreed rates and challenge discrepancies where necessary.
- Support benchmarking of freight providers and assist with carrier selection decisions.
- Serve as the primary contact for the 3PL warehouse regarding shipment queries and documentation requirements.
- Liaise effectively with UK-based and international teams across Procurement, Planning, Finance, and Operations.
- Maintain accurate export and customs documentation in line with compliance standards.
- Produce and report on key KPIs, including OTIF, transit performance, cost variance, and invoice accuracy.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the logistics function.
