Hours: Monday to Friday – Alternating Earlies (06:00 – 14:00) and Lates (14:00 – 22:00) Alexander Steele are delighted to be working with a hugely successful food manufacturing business who are seeking a Packing Engineer to join their engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly automated, well-invested manufacturing site where you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving packing and packaging equipment.

The role combines reactive and planned maintenance with opportunities to support continuous improvement initiatives, equipment upgrades, and capital investment projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on packing and packaging equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Support machinery installations, upgrades, and commissioning projects.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across the packing area.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring equipment issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and CMMS updates.
  • Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment reliability and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, food safety, quality, and hygiene standards at all times. Requirements
  • Apprentice-trained Multi-Skilled Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Electrician, or equivalent engineering experience within manufacturing.
  • Experience maintaining production, packaging, or automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of both PPM and breakdown maintenance.
  • Good understanding of health & safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and record-keeping skills.
