We are seeking a proactive and reliable Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering function. This is a hands‑on role working as part of a small, two‑person team alongside the Engineering Manager, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving plant, machinery, and site services to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting faults, and supporting both planned and reactive maintenance activities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Engineering Support
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and site equipment
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
- Support continuous operation of machinery to minimise downtime
- Assist the Engineering Manager with day‑to‑day engineering tasks and projects
- Electrical & Mechanical Duties
- Perform mechanical maintenance including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, and pneumatics
- Carry out basic to intermediate electrical fault‑finding (motors, sensors, control panels, wiring)
- Support installation, modification, and commissioning of new equipment
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work in accordance with health & safety regulations, food safety standards, and company procedures
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and correctly
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability and efficiency
- Assist with root cause analysis of recurring faults
- Support site improvements and engineering upgrades
- General Duties
- Maintain good housekeeping within engineering areas
- Provide engineering support across the site as required
- Participate in call‑outs or shift cover where necessary
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing or food production environment preferred
- Strong mechanical background with electrical competence (or vice versa)
- Relevant engineering qualifications (NVQ / City & Guilds / Apprenticeship) desirable
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team and independently
- Good problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills
