We are seeking an experienced, hands-on and driven Production Manager to join our growing world food manufacturing operation. You will take full responsibility for day-to-day production operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, food safety and on-time delivery across our product range. Our factory produces a variety of ambient products and we are looking for someone who is experienced in a similar environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of production operations, ensuring output targets, quality standards and food safety requirements are consistently achieved.
- Lead, manage and develop production teams, including supervisors and operatives, driving a high-performance culture.
- Manage attendance, absence, performance and conduct in line with company policies and procedures.
- Identify training needs, implement development plans and ensure all staff are fully trained and competent.
- Plan, organise and optimise production schedules to meet customer demand and operational efficiency targets.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions.
- Monitor and report on KPIs, ensuring accountability across production teams.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, BRC and Health & Safety standards at all times.
- Work cross-functionally with Technical, Engineering, Warehouse, Planning and Supply Chain teams.
- Lead and support internal and external audits, inspections and customer requirements.
About You
- Flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to respond positively to changing priorities and operational challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience as a Production Manager within FMCG or food manufacturing.
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing and developing large teams.
- Hands-on, proactive and comfortable operating on the factory floor.
- Sound knowledge of food safety standards (BRC, HACCP, VACCP, TACCP).
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience within world food manufacturing (rice, snacks or ambient foods) is desirable.
- Able to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Experience of BRC Audits.
- Experience supplying or working with major UK retailers such as Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda.
- Understanding of retailer expectations, including service levels, compliance and audit standards.
- Experience working with independent wholesalers and/or foodservice channels.
