Overview
As the Warehouse Shift Lead, you will provide hands-on, first-line leadership to the warehouse team throughout your shift. You will set the tone for safe, compliant, and efficient operations while ensuring high standards across inventory accuracy, order fulfilment, and shift performance. Working closely with the Warehouse Shift Lead, you will help deliver consistent, reliable warehouse results that support overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership
- Lead and supervise warehouse staff during your shift, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Oversee core warehouse activities including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.
- Allocate work effectively and monitor team performance, stepping in to resolve issues or escalating where required.
- Maintain a strong presence on the warehouse floor to support productivity and workflow.
- Ensure all activities comply with Health & Safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Uphold and promote GMP, HACCP/BRC, food safety, and SOP compliance at all times.
- Conduct daily audits of stock, processes, and documentation to maintain operational integrity.
- Support internal and external audits and participate in scheduled inventory counts.
- Track and support the achievement of shift KPIs related to accuracy, efficiency, safety, and fulfilment.
- Identify issues, inefficiencies, or recurring problems and contribute to improvement initiatives.
- Help reduce waste, enhance accuracy, and streamline processes wherever possible.
- Coach, support, and motivate team members to build capability and drive high performance.
- Set clear expectations, provide feedback, and help maintain a positive and engaged team culture.
- Encourage accountability, teamwork, and adherence to operational standards.
About You – Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Essential:
- Experience working in warehouse or distribution operations (FMCG experience advantageous).
- Strong understanding of inventory management, stock handling, and order fulfilment processes.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and coach operational teams.
- Competent user of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Reliable, collaborative, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
