We are working exclusively with a leading food business in London that is looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to establish and lead a newly created role within the technical function. You will oversee all aspects of compliance, ensuring full adherence to UK/EU legislation, customer requirements and third-party audit standards, while driving continuous improvement across the business. This role has been introduced to strengthen the business’s technical and compliance capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion food safety, legal compliance and a strong food safety culture across all sites.
  • Manage internal and external audits, ensuring the business stays audit-ready year-round.
  • Oversee key technical systems including QMS, internal audits, pest control and QC insights.
  • Review compliance, complaint and supplier data to drive improvement.
  • Be the go-to contact for ethical, environmental and social responsibility information, supporting ESG initiatives.
  • Lead packaging compliance, including EPR reporting and recyclability assessments.
  • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, sales and technical teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Manage, coach and develop a small Quality and Compliance team.

About You:

  • Degree in Food Science / Technology or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU food legislation and food safety systems.
  • 3 years food industry experience, ideally including compliance or technical management.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder-influencing skills.
  • Previous line management experience.
  • HACCP Level 3 (Level 4 desirable).
  • Experience with GFSI/BRC, ESG topics or technical system implementation is an advantage.
