We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join our senior logistics leadership team based in Glasgow. This is a key operational role responsible for overseeing a busy transport department of more than 50 colleagues, including drivers and office-based staff.
About the Role
The Transport Manager will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the transport function. You will lead a large, diverse team, ensure high service standards, and deliver continuous improvements across operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop a transport team of 50+ colleagues, including drivers and support staff.
- Oversee daily transport operations, including route planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Ensure fleet compliance, maintenance scheduling, and vehicle safety.
- Maintain full adherence to transport legislation, driver hours, and DVSA regulations.
- Recruit, induct, and retain quality drivers and transport personnel.
- Drive a positive culture through strong communication, leadership, and staff engagement.
- Work closely with the Logistics Director on operational planning and strategic initiatives.
- Manage budgets, analyse operational performance, and implement improvements.
- Maintain accurate compliance, operational, and performance records.
Requirements
- CPC Transport Manager qualification
- Demonstrable experience in a senior transport or logistics management role.
- Strong people-management skills and experience leading large teams.
- Proven ability to recruit, manage, and retain drivers.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
