Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior National Account Manager to lead and grow strategic relationships with our key national retail customers. This role will focus on maximizing the performance of existing accounts, identifying new growth opportunities, and delivering commercial success through effective customer collaboration, data analysis, and internal stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management: Take ownership of existing national retail accounts, ensuring consistent performance and long-term relationship development.
Sales Growth: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive sales growth within current customer portfolios.
Customer Relationships: Serve as the primary point of contact for key retail partners, managing all commercial negotiations, promotional planning, and performance reviews.
Forecasting & Budgeting: Manage sales forecasts, budgets, and reporting in line with company objectives.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with NPD, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
Category Insight: Leverage market data and consumer insights to identify trends and shape category strategies with customers.
Commercial Execution: Ensure flawless execution of promotional campaigns and product launches to maximize ROI and market share.
Contract Negotiation: Lead annual joint business planning and commercial terms negotiations.
Required Experience & Skills
Proven experience (5+ years) in national account management within the food manufacturing industry.
Strong track record of growing sales with major UK retail accounts (e.g., Tesco, Sainsbury\βs, Asda, Morrisons).
Commercially astute with strong negotiation and analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Results-driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in using sales forecasting tools and Excel; knowledge of IRI/Nielsen/Kantar data advantageous.
Degree qualified in Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
