Recruitment Consultant at Alexander Steele | Food, Drinks and Consumer Goods Recruitment Specialist – Technical, Operations, Supply Chain & Commercial
Location: Greater Manchester
Shifts: 4 days per week, rotating days and nights (usually Monday-Thursday but flexible)
We\’re working with a leading food manufacturer in the Manchester area who are on the lookout for a strong Front Line Manager to join their production team.
This is a people-first, performance-driven role focused on leading a team within a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll support the Manufacturing Shift Lead in driving key metrics across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People – while helping shape a culture of continuous improvement and accountability on the shop floor.
The Role:
- Act as a role model, setting the tone for performance, behaviour, and values across your team
- Support staffing plans and optimise manning levels throughout seasonal peaks and troughs
- Oversee team performance across KPIs such as yield, waste, product quality, and line efficiency
- Lead daily huddles, team briefs and handovers to ensure clear communication and alignment
- Champion training and development – mentoring new starters and upskilling your team
- Play a key role in CI initiatives using A3 methodology and structured problem-solving
- Ensure compliance with H&S, Food Safety, and GMP at all times
- Monitor and maintain your team’s skills matrix, helping build strong succession planning
- Actively contribute to site environmental and sustainability goals
What We\’re Looking For:
- Experience in a high-paced manufacturing/production setting (food or FMCG preferred)
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to exceed KPIs
- Comfortable with standard work routines and structured CI methodologies
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and Food Safety practices
- Capable of coaching and developing individuals at all levels
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal
- Organised, analytical, and IT literate
- Comfortable working rotating shifts across both days and nights
