I'm looking for an experienced Senior Food Technologist to join a growing technical team in a leading UK food business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working cross-functionally, owning technical projects from concept to launch, and building strong relationships with suppliers and customers.
The role:
- Act as a key technical contact for customers, suppliers and internal teams, providing accurate product and process information.
- Lead the technical delivery of new products and projects, including factory trials, first production and launches.
- Manage and develop the supplier base through visits, assessments, audits, risk reviews and follow-up actions.
- Own and maintain customer and internal product specifications, ensuring they meet legal, safety and customer requirements.
- Monitor and communicate customer and retailer standards, ensuring suppliers comply with all technical expectations and legislation.
- Investigate product and supplier issues, driving root cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Keep clear, organised technical documentation and reports, contributing to team KPIs and wider technical initiatives.
Candidate requirements:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Food Technology or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience in a technical/quality/NPD role within the food industry.
- Strong understanding of UK food legislation, food safety systems and retailer/brand standards.
- Confident managing multiple technical projects, with excellent organisation, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and credible communicator, able to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
