Alexander Steele are delighted to be working with an established FMCG business that is seeking a Production Shift Manager to join its operations team. This is a key leadership role within a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment, with responsibility for driving shift performance, efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement.
Role Overview
Reporting into the site leadership team, the Production Shift Manager will take full ownership of shift performance across production lines, with a strong focus on cost control, output, quality, health & safety, and continuous improvement. The role plays a critical part in delivering operational targets while embedding standardised ways of working and driving performance beyond baseline expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all production activities on shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent output across production lines.
- Drive performance against key KPIs.
- Embed continuous improvement methodologies, leading root‑cause analysis and improvement initiatives.
- Own shift handovers, people leadership, and day‑to‑day operational decision‑making, ensuring GMP and quality standards are met at all times.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience in a Production / Manufacturing Shift Manager or Shift Leader role within an FMCG environment.
- Strong understanding of health & safety, food safety, GMP, and BRC standards in high‑risk FMCG operations.
- Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement, performance KPIs, and problem‑solving in a fast‑paced setting.
- Confident people leader with experience managing operational teams and working cross‑functionally with Engineering, Quality, and CI functions.
