We are currently working exclusively with an award-winning food business supplying a wide range of products to UK retailers, foodservice customers and B2B partners.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Food Technologist to join an established Technical team and take on a varied role covering product quality, specifications, NPD, supplier management and customer support. You’ll work closely with teams across the wider business as well as external suppliers and customers, giving you excellent exposure across the full product lifecycle. The role reports into the Technical Manager and is based in London, with occasional travel required.
On offer
- Salary is £32,000 - £38,000 depending on experience
- Annual bonus
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Company pension
- Healthcare cash plan
The role and key accountabilities
You will support the Technical team across a diverse portfolio of food products, helping to ensure products remain safe, legal, compliant and consistently meet customer expectations.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical information and guidance to internal teams including Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain and Operations.
- Supporting new product launches and development projects from a technical perspective, keeping projects moving and raising any potential issues or delays.
- Managing technical queries and product complaints, working with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to reach a timely resolution.
- Completing and maintaining customer and product specifications, supporting documentation and technical databases.
- Assisting with product quality assessments and reviewing products against agreed customer requirements.
- Building strong working relationships with suppliers and attending supplier or first-production visits where required.
- Supporting the management of retailer and customer COPs and ensuring relevant requirements are communicated internally.
- Producing customer KPI information, reports and technical data accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Keeping supplier and product information accurate, current and well organised.
- Supporting existing product development and continuous improvement activity across the Technical function.
- Contributing to supplier reviews and gap analysis activity where required.
- Working collaboratively across departments to ensure technical information is shared effectively and commercial projects are delivered successfully.
The Candidate
We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy food environment and can confidently manage a variety of priorities and stakeholders.
Ideally, you will have:
- At least 2 years' experience within the food industry, ideally within a Technical, Food Technology, Quality or similar role.
- A good understanding of UK food legislation, food safety and technical compliance.
- Degree-level education, ideally within Food Science, Food Technology or another relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of HACCP and recognised food safety principles.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with specifications, technical information and product documentation.
Why this role
This is a great opportunity to join an established and successful food business where the Technical team plays an important part in both day to day operations and future product development.
You will have the opportunity to work across NPD, product quality, specifications, supplier management and customer technical support, giving you a genuinely varied position rather than being focused on one area alone.
You’ll also work closely with multiple departments and external partners, making this an excellent role for someone who wants to broaden their technical experience, build stronger commercial awareness and continue developing their career within the food industry. The business places a strong emphasis on customer focus, teamwork, accountability, quality and continued development.
