A successful food manufacturing business is seeking a Commercial Manager to take full P&L responsibility for established major retail accounts.

About the Role:

As the focal point for managing key customer relationships, you will be part of the Sales function responsible for the performance of both private label products and the company’s branded portfolio. Support will be provided by an experienced in-house team and specialists from across the wider group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve revenue and profit objectives by working closely with key stakeholders to identify and actively target opportunities within a specified portfolio of existing and/or new customers.
  • Manage the interface between the business and customers across Buying, NPD, Supply Chain, Finance, and Category teams.
  • Support the strategic direction of the business through the construction and implementation of comprehensive Account Plans for your customers.
  • Drive account plans across the organisation, working with all relevant functions to ensure targeted growth objectives are achieved.
  • Identify relevant NPD opportunities within the sector and, alongside the NPD team, develop compelling proposals supported by revenue and margin targets, launch plans, and activation strategies.
  • Challenge the status quo to foster a culture of continuous improvement, best practice, and high performance.
  • Prepare Annual Individual Account and activation plans aligned to core channel objectives, executing them on time and in full.
  • Produce and maintain a matrix of gains, losses, and active opportunities, with clear timelines for delivery.
  • Provide regular updates to the Retail Sales Director, reviewing progress and ensuring appropriate focus and corrective action.
  • Ensure all customer quotations meet company margin requirements and address any cost implications or sensitivities.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record managing national major retail accounts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Self-motivated with strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and AI-based applications.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and regionally as required.
  • Full UK driving licence.
