Role Overview
Alexander Steele is supporting a successful FMCG business to recruit a Warehouse Lead. The Warehouse Lead is responsible for the end-to-end performance of warehouse operations across two FMCG sites. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant management of inbound materials, internal stock movements, inter-site transfers, and finished goods dispatch. Working closely with Production, Planning, Technical, Engineering, and Supply Chain, the Warehouse Lead drives performance across Safety, Quality, Service, Cost, and People.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop Warehouse Front Line Managers and warehouse teams across multiple shifts.
- Build a high-performing, engaged warehouse team with strong communication and a consistent one team culture.
- Manage training plans, competency requirements, recruitment, and performance.
- Oversee all warehouse activities including goods-in, stock control, inter-site transfers, and finished goods dispatch.
- Ensure high levels of stock accuracy, dispatch accuracy.
- Maintain robust inventory management processes and accurate system data (ERP/WMS).
- Run daily performance reviews and operational meetings to maintain focus on priorities.
- Drive CI initiatives to improve layout, flow, stock management, picking accuracy, and resource utilisation.
- Use operational data to identify risks, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Support capacity planning and operational readiness for business growth.
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety, food safety, hygiene, and audit standards.
- Promote a strong Safety First culture across all warehouse activities.
- Maintain GMP standards, complete risk assessments, and ensure audit readiness.
- Work closely with Production, Planning, Technical, Engineering, and Transport to ensure material availability and service levels.
- Support the wider site leadership team in delivering operational and supply chain objectives.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience leading warehouse or logistics operations within FMCG or food manufacturing.
- Strong people management capability with experience leading multi-shift teams.
- Solid understanding of goods-in, stock control, warehousing processes, and dispatch operations.
- Strong safety, food safety, and compliance knowledge.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Production, Planning, and Supply Chain.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
