Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.
On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Quantitative Analyst for a 3 month contract based in Edinburgh with remote working available.
Purpose of the role:
We're embarking on an exciting transformation programme to bring three existing models together into a single, unified framework. As part of this journey, we're looking for a talented Quantitative Analyst who is passionate about solving complex problems, applying advanced analytical techniques, and helping build robust, scalable modelling solutions.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work across the full model life cycle, from development and validation through to governance, reporting, and framework enhancement. You'll collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders while leveraging modern data and cloud technologies to support critical business decisions.
What you'll do:
- Support the consolidation of three existing models into a single, scalable framework.
- Develop, enhance, and validate quantitative models and risk methodologies.
- Apply Monte Carlo simulations and statistical techniques to solve complex analytical challenges.
- Build dashboards and reporting capabilities that provide meaningful insights and support governance activities.
- Contribute to the development of model risk frameworks, validation processes, and controls.
- Partner with business, risk, and technology teams throughout the transformation programme.
- Support the evolution of data and cloud-based solutions that underpin the modelling landscape.
- Drive continuous improvements in model performance, transparency, and effectiveness.
The skills you'll need:
- A quantitative background in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, data science, or a related field.
- Experience working with Monte Carlo modelling and simulation techniques.
- Strong statistical analysis and quantitative modelling skills.
- Knowledge of model validation methodologies and risk frameworks.
- Strong Python programming experience.
- Advanced SQL skills for working with large and complex datasets.
- Experience working with AWS or cloud-based data environments.
- Dashboarding and data visualisation experience using Power BI.
