Your focus will be on enabling your team to effectively build, run, and improve services on AWS, applying DevOps and automation practices to drive speed, reliability, and operational excellence. This is an opportunity to work on a high-impact Home Office platform supporting secure, large-scale public services.

You will work closely with engineers, architects, product managers, and platform specialists to ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-quality cloud solutions. You will align delivery priorities, remove blockers, and drive technical decisions to ensure the platform remains stable, cost-efficient, and continuously improving.

Main responsibilities:

  • Coordinate technical planning and roadmap delivery within the product team.
  • Ensure cloud infrastructure, deployments, and environments are appropriately managed and maintained.
  • Champion DevOps practices including CI/CD, observability, automation, infrastructure-as-code, and shift-left testing.
  • Support the team to mature the build-run-improve cycle, including release automation, incident response, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Maintain delivery plans, sprint goals, and release schedules for a long-lived product team.
  • Manage risks, issues, blockers, and dependencies related to the platform.
  • Act as the main delivery contact point for team stakeholders including product leads, architects, business owners, and other platform consumers.
  • Translate technical detail into clear delivery decisions and updates.

Essential:

  • An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role; as a minimum, you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks.
  • Hands-on delivery experience in a cloud environment, ideally AWS, including working with teams building or running cloud-native services.
  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
  • Experience working within a single multi-disciplinary agile team delivering continuous increments of value.
  • Strong communication skills, able to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Strong understanding of AWS fundamentals (IAM, VPC, EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, CloudFormation/Terraform).
  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer etc).
  • Experience with Kubernetes/EKS, containerisation (Docker), or serverless patterns.
  • Understanding of SRE concepts (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets) and operational excellence.
  • Participation in platform engineering or DevOps communities of practice.
