On behalf of UK Research and Innovation, we are looking for an Interaction Designer for a 7 Month, Inside IR35, Hybrid contract with team visits to Bristol. As an interaction designer, you will plan, design and participate in research activities with users that help the teams gain a deep understanding of the people using UKRI services, specifically for the REF29 systems.
You will:
- Design services which promote quality and best practice as well as ongoing improvements.
- Drive the user experience process and its implementation across the digital service.
- Generate feedback and insight to build a clear picture of the service users and deliver solutions that they need.
- Support product owners by generating new and useful user insights and translating it into features and actions that will allow them to iteratively improve their service for users.
- Oversee the work of or collaborate with team members to align UX activities with wider plans to inform service proposition.
- Ensure designs are intuitive, compliant and accessible.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Agile working: Identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use, including measuring and evaluating outcomes; help the team to decide the best approach; manage and visualise outcomes, prioritise work and adhere to agreed minimum viable product (MVP), priorities and scope.
- Communicating between the technical and non-technical: Listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and interpret them; manage stakeholder expectations; manage active and reactive communication; support or host difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders.
- Community collaboration: Work collaboratively in a group, actively networking with others; adapt feedback to ensure it's effective and lasting.
- Digital perspective: Apply a digital understanding to work; identify and implement solutions for assisted digital users.
- Evidence and context-based design: Design systems for use across multiple services and identify the simplest of a variety of approaches.
- Prototyping: Use a variety of prototyping methods; share best practice and coach others; look at strategic service design end to end; prototype in code; create and validate a dynamic prototype.
- Strategic thinking: Define strategies and policies, providing guidance to others on working in the strategic context; evaluate current strategies to ensure business requirements are being met and exceeded where possible.
- User focus: Give direction on which tools or methods to use; demonstrate experience in meeting the needs of users across a variety of channels; bring insight and expertise in how user needs have changed over time to ensure they're met by the business; apply strategic thinking to provide the best service for the end user.
- Working within constraints: Identify, communicate and work within constraints; challenge the validity of constraints; ensure standards are being met.
