On behalf of Department for Business and Trade (DBT), we are looking for a AI and Data Centre Specialist (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract based Remotely with occasional travel to London. SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

As a AI and Data Centre Specialist, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Lead on priority AI and Data Centre projects across the leading AI countries globally, with a focus on EU, Asia-Pacific and Gulf markets.
  • Provide critical assessment of and input to cross-Whitehall strategic documents and discussion.
  • Maintain existing relationships and build new ones with the UK AI communities across incubators, accelerators, trade associations, academia and local and national government.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the DBT's HQ tech sector team, and across multiple internal stakeholders including overseas colleagues and OFI providing specialist input and insight.
  • Support with management of key business relationships.
  • Use deep technical and commercial understanding of the technology area to identify, assess and interact with UK companies for export opportunities, generating lists where appropriate.
  • Develop proposition development to sell the UK and its capability.
  • Help develop and deliver a programme of research, learning and development to upskill overseas networks and cross-government colleagues on AI.

Essential:

  • Significant knowledge and experience of the AI sector, including a deep understanding of the UK AI eco-system.
  • Significant and demonstrable experience of working in the sector whether in a tech company, academia or an accelerator or incubator.
  • Excellent customer facing skills, lead generation expertise and the ability to get projects over the line.
  • Strong network of businesses and stakeholders within the AI ecosystem and significant relationship management experience.
  • Must have Public Sector experience.
