On behalf of our client, Royal London. We are looking for a Product/Proposition Manager for an initial 6-month contract on a multi-year programme of work. The role is 50/50 hybrid in either Edinburgh (Haymarket) or Macclesfield (Alderley Park) – per candidate preference.
Purpose of the role:
Our client is embarking on one of the UK's largest insurance platform migrations – moving over 1.5 million customer policies from legacy systems onto a modern Sonata platform. This pivotal, early-stage programme will define the future of their Protection, Pensions and Life propositions.
The Proposition & Product Manager will play a key role in shaping what the target proposition should look like, protecting customers and advisers from harm, and ensuring the migration delivers genuine value – not just a technical uplift.
They will sit within the Solutions Design & Experience Development team, owning the migration roadmap, influencing senior stakeholders, and coaching a team of proposition analysts to deliver meaningful change at scale.
This is a multi-year programme at its initial stages – a high-impact role that will shape how millions of customers experience the next generation of financial products and services.
What you'll do:
-
Lead the delivery of Royal London's customer migration roadmap, aligning it with strategic goals and customer/adviser needs.
-
Define and safeguard the customer proposition throughout the migration – managing conduct risks and ensuring fair outcomes under Consumer Duty.
-
Translate complex legacy product details into clear, future-fit designs and prioritise enhancements needed for migration.
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams – including technology, operations, risk and compliance – to drive delivery.
-
Act as the voice of the adviser – ensuring intermediated business is protected and that changes improve, rather than disrupt, day-to-day operations.
-
Coach and develop a team of Proposition Analysts, embedding agile practices and building capability for future phases of this multi-year programme.
-
Monitor progress against milestones, budgets and risk controls, balancing pace with regulatory obligations.
-
Influence and manage stakeholders at all levels, driving business readiness and clear communication throughout.
The skills you'll need:
-
Significant experience in proposition or product management within financial services – ideally in pensions, life or long-term savings.
-
Background in delivering large-scale product migrations or complex transformation programmes is highly desirable.
-
Strong understanding of Consumer Duty and conduct risk requirements.
-
Ability to translate legacy product features into practical, customer-centred target propositions.
-
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills – able to challenge and influence across business and technical teams.
-
Confident working at pace in an early-stage, evolving programme – adaptable, resilient and pragmatic.
-
Proven track record in leading and developing teams, with a collaborative and coaching style.
-
Knowledge of Sonata or similar insurance platforms would be a distinct advantage but is certainly not essential.
Why this role?
-
A unique chance to shape a high-impact, greenfield migration programme from the ground up.
-
Influence the future customer and adviser experience for the UK's largest mutual life, pensions and investment company.
-
Work within an inclusive culture that values diverse thinking and empowers people to deliver real change.
-
Hybrid working (Edinburgh HQ or Macclesfield considered) with a strong focus on collaboration and professional growth.
