On behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs we are looking for a number of Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineer - SC for a 12 months contract based in Bristol. Please note that this role is going to be hybrid with a mix of 3 days/week working from the office. You may also be required to travel to suppliers within the UK.
Purpose of the role:
As a Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineer - SC, you will work directly with suppliers to assess manufacturing processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement sustainable solutions to enhance quality, efficiency, and delivery performance. Using methodologies such as APQP and PPAP, you will work collaboratively with suppliers to develop robust manufacturing processes, improve capability, and ensure compliance with clients' and industry standards.
As a Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineer - SC, you will:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers across the supply chain, providing technical support and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead supplier development activities to ensure manufacturing and quality processes meet business, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Assess supplier manufacturing operations to identify process inefficiencies, capability gaps, and areas for improvement, implementing sustainable solutions to enhance quality, productivity, and delivery performance.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes, managing the successful transfer of new products into supplier manufacturing environments.
- Coordinate supplier approval, qualification, and validation activities, ensuring all requirements are achieved prior to production release.
- Drive the implementation, development, and validation of new manufacturing processes within the supplier base, aligned with client's standards and customer expectations.
- Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, and cost metrics, acting as the key interface between internal stakeholders and suppliers throughout product development and production.
- Lead root cause investigations and continuous improvement activities, working collaboratively with suppliers to resolve manufacturing and quality challenges and improve overall capability.
The skills you'll need:
- Proven experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer within a complex engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Active SC Clearance.
- Demonstrated experience supporting complex assembly operations within aerospace, defence, or other highly regulated engineering sectors.
- Strong understanding of quality and process improvement methodologies, including PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
- Knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) frameworks and their application within manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports) processes would be advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross‑functional teams.
