On behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs, we are looking for a number of Skilled Fitters/Inspectors for a 12 months contract based in Derby. Please note that this role is going to be on a rotating shift pattern (mornings, afternoons and nights).

As a Skilled Fitter, you will be:

  • Fitting of engine components and/or modules as directed by engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Raising non-conformance issues
  • Working to set deadlines to achieve performance targets and Customer delivery commitments
  • Working in a compliant manner to ensure that products are built to the correct technical and quality specifications
  • Participating in continual review and improvement processes for the business to identify best practice
  • Ensuring a clean and safe environment is maintained in the workplace

As a Skilled Inspector, you will be:

  • Inspection of Engines/Modular assemblies using the direction of Engine Manuals, Work Instructions, Technical Information & drawings and using the information to ensure that all Engine components are serviceable or need repair/replacing
  • Working as part of the Overhaul Team to raise non-conformances, overcheck critical build assemblies and ensure the engine configuration is correct to customer/regulatory requirement
  • Working to set deadlines to achieve performance targets and Customer delivery commitments
  • Working in a compliant manner to ensure that products are built to the correct technical and quality specifications
  • Ensuring Health & safety is kept to a high standard, at all times
  • Participating in continual review and improvement processes for the business to identify best practice
  • Working in collaboration with Quality & Engineering Functions daily to ensure air worthiness is of the highest standard

Experience and qualifications required:

  • It is essential that candidates possess a recognised time-served apprenticeship within a Mechanical Engineering discipline, at either City and Guilds Level 3, or NVQ Level 3, and BTEC national or equivalent qualification - you will need to provide this before the interview
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience in using a variety of engineering equipment and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply instructions correctly to achieve required product quality
  • Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate relevant fitting experience of engine components
  • PC literacy is essential
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable mindset
  • Knowledge of lean principles and process basics
  • Problem solving skills
