This is a 12-month fixed-term contract based at one of the organisation's largest and most dynamic UK manufacturing sites.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the HR Director and working as part of a close-knit HR team, you'll provide proactive HR support across the full employee lifecycle. This is a varied role combining employee relations, recruitment, HR operations and people projects, while playing a key role in supporting managers and helping to drive a positive, high-performing culture. The business is on an exciting journey to further develop its people strategy, strengthen leadership capability and enhance employee engagement. You'll play an important role in supporting leaders, embedding best practice and helping to create an environment where people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality employee relations advice and coaching to managers, ensuring employment risks are effectively managed.
  • Support formal investigations, disciplinary, grievance, absence management and performance processes.
  • Interpret and advise on HR policies, procedures and employment legislation.
  • Work closely with Occupational Health and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Support recruitment, selection and workforce planning activities.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, reporting and monthly HR KPI data.
  • Work alongside Payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of employee information.
  • Support organisational change projects, including TUPE and business transformation initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies, processes and service delivery.
  • Support employee engagement, wellbeing, inclusion and internal communication initiatives.
  • Manage the HR inbox, providing responsive advice and administrative support to managers and employees.

Person Specification

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as an HR Advisor within a fast-paced environment.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or be working towards it).
  • Strong employee relations experience, with the confidence to advise and coach managers across a broad range of HR matters.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience interpreting HR policies and procedures to provide pragmatic, commercially focused solutions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Good analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with a passion for delivering an excellent HR service.

The following would be advantageous:

  • Experience of working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment and supporting managers on employee relations matters involving recognised trade unions.
  • Experience supporting organisational change initiatives, including TUPE or business transformation projects.
