The Company: Our client is a not for-profit training provider, with an excellent reputation. They work with apprentices from all over the UK working with many high profile clients. They have gained ISO, Matrix and IIP accreditations. They have 60 staff.

The Job: On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Functional Skills Maths Tutor to join them in their offices based in Bristol. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and contextualised maths education to apprentices alongside their vocational training. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified teaching professional who can bring mathematics to life by applying it in real-world, workplace settings. You’ll use innovative teaching strategies, including virtual classrooms, to ensure content is both engaging and accessible.

Key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Deliver Functional Skills Maths (Entry 3 to Level 2) to 16-19-year-old apprentices.
  • Contextualise learning within the workplace and vocational scenarios.
  • Use a range of delivery methods to engage learners, including online and in-person formats.
  • Track and report learner progress to support achievement of qualifications.
  • Manage your own teaching timetable, lesson planning, and associated administration.
  • Support a safe and positive learning environment in line with safeguarding policies.

The Person: For this role our client is seeking someone who has the following skills and experience.

  • Teaching qualification (PTLLS, DTLLS, CertEd, PGCE, etc.)
  • Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) qualifications in English and Mathematics
  • Experience of working with young people aged 16-19
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Competence in ICT, including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent time management, organisation, and planning skills
  • Ability to teach English Level 2 Functional skills

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • Assessor qualification (e.g., TAQA)
  • Previous experience delivering Functional Skills or similar programmes
  • Experience in an automotive or vocational training setting

Salary: £28,000

Benefits: Company pension, 20 days holiday + bank holiday + 2 weeks close down at Christmas, Employee Assistance Programme, End of year profit share bonus, Gym Access

The Hours: 37 per hour working Monday - Friday

The Location: Bristol, South, with Car Parking
