The Job: On behalf of our client we are seeking an Electrical Estimator. In this role responsibilities will include:
- Lead daily organisation of incoming / outgoing enquiries
- Produce accurate and high-quality tender bids in line with the commercial governance process
- Support, maintain, develop and build the estimating department alongside procurement
- Owner for the mechanical element of the estimating function
- Identify potential opportunities to increase revenue and margin, feeding leads through to the sales function
- Responsible for production of detailed tender bids, attending tender meetings and conducting post tender handover meetings - supporting the company’s growth development plan
- Maintain supplier, subcontract and the estimating database
- Assess tender opportunities to ensure adequate information is available
- Prepare supplier and subcontractor enquiries, evaluating quotes upon return
- Take off quantities of materials and apply labour values accordingly
- Provide core costs and advise of challenges / risks pre-submission
- Prepare final submission in the requested format and by set deadlines
- Post tender negotiations
- Maintain tender documentation and respond to pre-tender and post contract queries
- Preparation of contractual information to client / subcontractors
- Post contract liaison with clients
- Support the PMs for material procurement
- Take an active role in sub-contract negotiations and award of packages
- Work closely with the departments finance surveyors in respect of all costs and variations
The Person: For this role our client is seeking someone who has:
- Solid background within the electrical services sector and understanding of contracting
- IT proficient - all key Office products, including Excel and estimation software to at least intermediate level
- Comfortable working with and producing schedules of rates
- Proven negotiation and communication skills at various levels from subcontractor through to client
- High numeracy levels
- Must have sound knowledge of all electrical systems and Commercial awareness
- Able to read and understand tender drawings and specifications
- Good organisational skills and able to manage workload
- NICEIC accredited (Desirable)
- Educated to HNC/HND level
- Excellent attitude and approach to work
- Excellent customer care and interpersonal skills
