The Company: Our client is a specialist professional services firm supporting organisations within the charity and not-for-profit sector. The team focuses on providing high-quality financial reporting and compliance services to help clients meet their regulatory obligations.
The Role: On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Charity Accounts Assistant to join their dedicated charity team. In this role you will support senior accountants in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and charity regulations. You will assist with the preparation of charity accounts, reconciliations, and compliance reviews under supervision.
Responsibilities within this role will include:
- Prepare charity accounts and draft year-end financial statements under supervision.
- Perform bank and ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Post journal adjustments to trial balances and format accounts.
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory and firm standards.
- Liaise with clients to obtain missing information and clarify queries.
- Assist with compliance reviews to align accounts with charity law.
- Draft working papers and contribute to examiners reports.
- Support the examination process by reviewing transactions and documentation.
- Conduct basic checks to verify completeness of records.
The Person: The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to develop their accounting expertise within the charity sector (ideally with charity experience already gained).
Key requirements include:
- 2-3 years of accounts production experience, including journal postings and trial balance preparation.
- AAT Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with confidence liaising with clients.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software; full UK driving licence desirable.
The Salary: Depending on experience
The Hours: 9am - 5pm (flexible hours 10 - 6pm or 8am - 4pm) with 1 day working from home
