The Job: On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Legal Accounts Assistant to join the Accounts Team at head office in Bristol. In this role you will support the Finance Director and work closely with an experienced Accounts Assistant and a small legal cashiering team. The position covers purchase ledger processing, payments, reconciliations, and support with cash-flow and VAT procedures. It is a hands-on role within a collaborative finance environment.
Responsibilities within this role will include:
- Post purchase ledger invoices, credit cards, and expenses with supporting documentation.
- Liaise with office heads to obtain appropriate invoice sign-off.
- Reconcile supplier statements to ensure accuracy.
- Set up bank payments for suppliers and other obligations.
- Post payments and receipts, including Legal Aid receipts, promptly in the accounts system.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations for all office accounts.
- Assist with cash-flow forecasting on a monthly basis.
- Produce monthly fee statements for consultant solicitors.
- Post pre-payment and accrual journals as required.
- Submit VAT returns after review by the Finance Director and post adjustments.
- Handle telephone and email queries from internal staff.
The Person: For this role the ideal candidate is committed, self-motivated, and eager to learn. You will have strong attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills. You should be comfortable working as part of a team and within a busy office environment. Computer literate with proficiency in standard office software. Excellent attention to detail and strong time-management abilities. Friendly and professional manner with strong verbal and written communication skills. The Benefits: 20 days plus bank holidays + 1 day for your birthday, pension.
The Location: Clifton, Bristol (office based).
The Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (with 1 hour for lunch).
