We're looking for a tax professional with a genuine interest in private client work — someone who's comfortable with personal tax, understands the complexity of deceased estates, and can work with both legal and financial stakeholders without hand-holding.
The Role
- Preparing personal tax returns
- Handling CGT and IHT calculations
- Preparing full estate accounts
- Supporting probate applications (helpful if you've done this, not a dealbreaker if not)
- Liaising with HMRC and internal legal teams
- Communicating clearly — and compassionately — with clients during difficult times
What We're Looking For
- Part-qualified or qualified: ACCA, ACA, ATT, CTA or equivalent
- Solid personal tax experience — this is non-negotiable. If your background is purely business/corporate tax, this role isn't the right fit
- Exposure to estates, IHT or probate work is a real advantage
- Strong communicator, written and verbal
- Confident working independently in a remote environment
- A calm, considered manner — you'll regularly deal with bereaved families
The Setup
This is a predominantly remote role based out of Surrey, with just one day in the office per week or every other week — so you get the flexibility of home working without losing the team connection entirely. We're open to full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days) — what matters more is that you can cover both the tax and probate side of the work competently.
Why It's an Interesting Role
Private client and estate work is a niche that rewards specialists. You'll gain broad exposure across tax, legal process and client-facing work — all within a supportive firm that takes the technical side seriously.
