This role is based in our client's offices with no hybrid working.
Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 FTE (Full time Equivalent)
Our client is a successful firm of Nottingham Accountants based close to Sherwood who have a small friendly team and are located in lovely offices. They are seeking a Payroll Manager for around 4 days a week as their current Payroll person is retiring next year.
They are seeking an experienced person with extensive payroll experience who enjoys variety and dealing with multiple payrolls both weekly and monthly. Reporting directly to the Partner of the business, you will be in charge of the Payroll function for the Practice's clients.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the day-to-day administration of a selection of different sized various payrolls accurately around 250/300 per month
- Processing starters/leavers, sickness, and all other necessary amendments as and when required
- Using payroll software efficiently for payroll and reporting purposes (Sage Line 50)
- To have an extensive knowledge of Gross pay, Net pay, PAYE/NIC, tax code changes, student loans and statutory payments e.g. redundancy, SMP, SAP, SPP and SSP etc.
- Handling client payroll weekly and monthly
- Working knowledge of auto enrolment (NEST etc.)
- To be able to plan and meet the payroll deadline every month with maximum accuracy
- Proactively develop and keep up to date with new payroll legislation
- Liaise with third parties including HMRC and assist with enquiries when they arise
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels
Skills & experience required:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a payroll environment; highly advantageous if gained in an accountancy practice or bureau environment
- Knowledge of Tax, National Insurance, SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP
- Good knowledge of what excellent service looks and feels like
- Experience of developing and maintaining standard operating procedures
- IT literate, including the effective use of MS Office
- Possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
This is a lovely business to work for with the current Payroll person in place for over 10 years. You will have a period of time to overlap and get acquainted with the systems and clients.
