Location: Glasgow (G81)

Salary: 40,000 – 45,000 per annum

Working Model: Hybrid (3 days from home, 2 days office-based)

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and deliver high-level accounts and advisory services. You will work closely with Partners and oversee junior team members, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of year-end accounts, management accounts, VAT, and general compliance work. This role suits someone looking for a long-term position within a supportive boutique practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients across various sectors within the UK.
  • Prepare and review statutory year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
  • Produce management accounts and financial reports.
  • Prepare and review VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Provide general accounting and advisory support to clients.
  • Review work prepared by junior and offshore team members.
  • Support the continuous improvement of internal processes and client workflows.
  • Liaise with clients, HMRC, and third parties as required.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and work is delivered to a high standard.

Requirements

  • ACCA or ICAS Qualified
  • 57+ years experience within an accountancy practice
  • Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts, FRS 102, FRS 105, VAT, and general compliance.
  • Confident in managing a portfolio independently.
  • Experience reviewing junior staff work (desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple client deadlines.
  • Competent user of accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar.
