We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and deliver high-level accounts and advisory services. You will work closely with Partners and oversee junior team members, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of year-end accounts, management accounts, VAT, and general compliance work. This role suits someone looking for a long-term position within a supportive boutique practice.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of clients across various sectors within the UK.
- Prepare and review statutory year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
- Produce management accounts and financial reports.
- Prepare and review VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements.
- Provide general accounting and advisory support to clients.
- Review work prepared by junior and offshore team members.
- Support the continuous improvement of internal processes and client workflows.
- Liaise with clients, HMRC, and third parties as required.
- Ensure deadlines are met and work is delivered to a high standard.
- ACCA or ICAS Qualified (essential).
- 5-7 years experience within an accountancy practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts, FRS 102, FRS 105, VAT, and general compliance.
- Confident in managing a portfolio independently.
- Experience reviewing junior staff work (desirable).
- Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple client deadlines.
- Competent user of accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar.
- Hybrid working: 3 days from home, 2 days in the office (G81).
