A prominent client of ours are seeking an experienced FinOps professional on a remote basis, to lead cloud financial management activities, focusing on cost optimisation, waste reduction, and effective resource utilisation across public cloud environments, including Azure and AWS. The role will be responsible for driving FinOps best practices, enabling stakeholders through training and guidance, and ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities into a long-term internal capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Cost Optimisation and Waste Reduction: Identify inefficiencies in cloud usage and implement cost-saving measures. Promote and embed best practices for efficient cloud consumption.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work with technical, financial, and leadership stakeholders to align cloud spend with operational and strategic priorities. Support adoption of agreed cost controls and optimisation initiatives.
- Training and Enablement: Deliver workshops, training sessions, and guidance materials to improve cloud financial awareness and capability.
- Cloud Usage Analysis: Analyse cloud utilisation data to identify patterns, wastage, and optimisation opportunities. Recommend and implement tactical and strategic cost-saving actions.
- Process and Governance Development: Define, document, and maintain FinOps processes, policies, and governance models. Support compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
- Reporting and Cost Visibility: Develop and maintain cost reporting and dashboards using business intelligence tools. Provide clear, actionable insights into cloud spend and efficiency.
- Knowledge Transfer and Capability Transition: Support the transfer of FinOps knowledge and responsibilities to an internal team or function. Contribute to the development of sustainable FinOps capability.
- Commercial and Strategic Input: Provide input into cloud cost strategy and financial decision-making. Support vendor discussions related to pricing models and cost optimisation where required.
- Performance Management: Define and track key metrics related to cloud cost efficiency, budget adherence, and continuous improvement.
Required Experience and Skills
- Cloud Financial Management: Strong experience in FinOps, cloud cost optimisation, and financial governance.
- Cloud Platform Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Azure and AWS cost management and billing features.
