Our Vision & Why It Matters

At Alexander Dennis, our vision is to lead the evolution of sustainable on-road mass transportation and mobility. We design, deliver, and support market-leading buses and coaches that help reduce emissions, improve air quality, and keep communities connected. Every role contributes to that mission whether you're engineering, driving sales, improving production, or supporting our customers.

What You'll Do

As a Lead Engineer within our Advanced Engineering & Concepts team, you'll play a key role in shaping the next generation of sustainable transport solutions. Working within the Systems Engineering Design Team, you'll be responsible for integrating complex vehicle systems, driving requirements management activities, and supporting the development of innovative electric vehicle technologies. This role combines systems engineering, requirements analysis, model-based engineering techniques and emerging AI-enabled tools to support the design and validation of future vehicle platforms. You'll collaborate with suppliers, engineering specialists and key stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are defined, managed and successfully delivered throughout the product development lifecycle.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking an experienced systems engineer with a strong technical background and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges. You'll be comfortable working across mechanical, electrical and software disciplines and have experience applying Systems Engineering principles in a product development environment. You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience managing requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle, and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, embraces innovation, and is excited by the opportunities presented by electrification, connectivity, autonomy and AI-driven engineering processes.

Bonus if you have

  • Experience working within the automotive, commercial vehicle or wider transportation sector
  • Knowledge of electric vehicle powertrain systems and associated technologies
  • Experience using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies
  • Experience with requirements management platforms and systems engineering frameworks
  • Experience developing or implementing AI-enabled solutions to enhance engineering processes
  • Formal Systems Engineering qualifications or professional accreditation
