POSITION SUMMARY:
We’re looking for a skilled PDI Technician to join our Scarborough Quality team. In this hands-on role, you’ll carry out detailed inspections, system checks, and diagnostics to ensure our vehicles meet the highest safety and quality standards before they hit the road. You’ll work with a range of chassis, driveline, and engine systems (including diesel and EV), using your technical expertise to resolve issues efficiently and effectively. If you’re a time-served technician with a PSV licence, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for delivering quality, this could be the opportunity for you.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Perform underbody inspections to the specified check sheet and rectify issues as required.
- Perform system checks, updates & diagnosis as required.
- Complete sign off documentation.
- Work diligently and achieve time & quality standards.
- Select & use correctly appropriate equipment and tools for the required work task.
- Use equipment & tools in a safe manner, using appropriate PPE as necessary.
- Ensure the work environment is maintained in a safe & tidy manner & sweep work area daily.
- Respond to late/out of core hours & ‘call out’ situations as required.
- Occasional travel & overnight stays as required.
- Provide ‘fixed’ holiday cover as required.
- Any other duties deemed within capability as required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Time Served Apprenticeship in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or can demonstrate occupational competence in an equivalent environment.
- Able to work in a safe manner recognising potential risk to oneself and one’s work colleagues.
- Competent to use a range of hand & power tools as required to undertake designated work task efficiently & safely.
- Able to work under own initiative and minimum supervision.
- Thorough understanding of chassis driveline systems and components e.g. Volvo, AD diesel & EV, Voith, Battery systems.
- Thorough understanding of engine systems and EV drive systems.
- Valid driving licence – essential.
- PSV licence – essential.
- IT proficiency to include thorough understanding of any diagnostic software for major vehicle systems e.g. Cummings engine software, Voith.
