Overview: At Alexander Dennis, our vision is to lead the evolution of sustainable on‑road mass transportation and mobility. We design, deliver, and support market‑leading buses and coaches that help reduce emissions, improve air quality, and keep communities connected. Every role contributes to that mission whether you're engineering, driving sales, improving production, or supporting our customers.
What You'll Do: As an Assembly Operative, you will be responsible for building high‑level assemblies for our bus products, including side frames, roof frames, and interdeck assemblies. Working from engineering drawings and work instructions, you will ensure assemblies are completed safely, accurately, and in line with required quality and build time standards. You will collaborate closely with Team Leaders, Engineering, Quality, and fellow team members, contributing to a safe, efficient, and well‑organised production environment.
What We're Looking For: We’re looking for someone with hands‑on experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment who is comfortable using a range of hand and power tools. You should be safety‑focused, quality‑driven, and able to follow technical instructions while working both independently and as part of a team. A positive attitude, good attention to detail, and a willingness to take responsibility for your work are key to success in this role. Bonus if you have:
- Experience building assemblies within a bus, coach, automotive, or heavy engineering environment
- Previous exposure to interpreting engineering drawings or build specifications
What We Offer: Because we know that to deliver on our vision, people have to feel supported and inspired.
- Impact: Be part of something that's changing cities, improving air quality, helping public transport evolve.
- Development & Growth: Training programmes, mentorship, opportunities to take on new roles, broaden skills.
- Culture & Belonging: An inclusive environment; your voice matters; we treat people fairly.
- Perks & Benefits: Competitive salary, pension, wellbeing support, cycle to work scheme, enhanced maternity and paternity benefits.

- Safety: The health and wellbeing of our team members, and the safety of our products, are our top priority.
- Quality: We strive for excellence in our products, services, and all that we do.
