A leading law firm based in Coventry is looking to recruit a Legal Accounts Assistant on a part-time, permanent basis (16 hours per week). Reporting into the Accounts Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily bookkeeping and providing a high-quality financial service to the firm and its clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurate cashbook management and general ledger accuracy
  • Completing daily bank reconciliations for both client and office accounts
  • Daily preparation of online bank payments, (occasional) cheque raising
  • Daily allocation and reconciliation of payments
  • Assist in quarterly client interest calculation and processing
  • Assist Accounts Supervisor and Practice Director with finance-related queries and resolve client financial queries
  • Invoicing and credit note issuance ensuring correct VAT Treatment
  • Review ledgers to ensure any errors are picked up and corrected in a timely manner
  • Review debtor and creditor ledgers to ensure items are cleared as soon as possible
  • Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules (including AML related processes), reporting any breaches
  • Provide fee earners with ad hoc financial information regarding matters and debts

Essential experience:

  • Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules and Regulations
  • An understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Anti-money laundering awareness
  • Experience with Legal accounting software
  • Ability to work within the requirement of confidentiality
  • High standard of accuracy and able to work under pressure
