Alexander Daniels are proud to be partnering with a fast-growing, innovative engineering company who are on an exciting journey of expansion. We’re looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join their leadership team in Burton-on-Trent, taking ownership of financial performance across two divisions and driving real impact across the business.
This role is far from “just reporting the numbers” – you’ll be the Finance Director’s right hand, a trusted business partner to operational leaders, and the go-to person for turning data into decisions. You’ll also get the opportunity to shape processes, mentor a small team, and influence strategy in a business that truly values finance at the heart of decision‑making.
What you’ll be doing:
- Take ownership of management reporting across two divisions.
- Partner with project managers, influencing budgets, spend, and profitability.
- Lead and develop a small, ambitious finance team.
- Drive month-end close, including reconciliations and adjustments.
- Unlock cash and working capital improvements through smarter billing processes.
- Deliver deep-dip financial analysis to support margin growth and operational efficiency.
- Oversee overhead reporting, cash forecasts, and strategic financial planning.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders, ensuring finance drives better decision-making.
What we’re looking for:
- A fully qualified accountant (ACA / CIMA / ACCA).
- Experience within a project-based environment (engineering, construction, facilities or similar).
- Strong Excel and systems knowledge – someone who can make numbers talk.
- A natural communicator who enjoys business partnering and working closely with non-finance stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to other sites a couple of times a month.
- Energy, adaptability, and the confidence to thrive in a fast-paced, growing business.
This is an opportunity to join a business that’s going places – where your input won’t just be appreciated, it will directly shape the future of the company.
