We’re working with a well-established organisation in Guernsey to recruit a Payables Finance Officer to join their finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong accounts payable experience who wants to take on a varied role with supervisory responsibility.
The role
You’ll support senior finance leadership in maintaining accurate financial records across payables, fixed assets, and the general ledger. You’ll play a key role in invoice processing, reconciliations, creditor management, and month-end reporting, while also contributing to audits and improving internal controls and processes. This role also includes oversight of junior team members, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Key responsibilities
- Managing accounts payable processes and ensuring accuracy of financial records
- Performing reconciliations and supporting month-end reporting
- Overseeing creditor relationships and resolving queries
- Supporting audit requirements and financial reporting cycles
- Driving process improvements and efficiency initiatives
- Supervising and mentoring junior staff
Qualifications
- Solid experience in accounts payable or credit control
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Confident using accounting systems (e.g. Sage or similar) and Excel
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ideally working towards or interested in an accounting qualification (AAT/ACCA or similar)
- Experience in fast-paced or high-volume environments is beneficial but not essential.
