A growing, innovative business in the East Midlands is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to lead its finance function and play a pivotal role in driving both operational and strategic performance. This is a hands-on, high-visibility position within a supportive leadership team, offering autonomy, influence and the opportunity to shape the future structure and capability of the finance function.
Opportunity
As Financial Controller, you will lead the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely financial information and insight. You will partner closely with senior leaders across operations, commercial and product teams, providing challenge, analysis and clarity around performance. The role also includes significant involvement in process improvement, systems automation (ERP) and contributing to wider transformation projects as the business continues to scale. You will manage and mentor a small team and work with the broader team to embed best practice, strengthen controls and support ongoing development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close and deliver clear, meaningful management reporting.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning processes.
- Provide insightful commercial analysis across revenue, margins, and overheads.
- Drive improvements in financial controls, governance and audit readiness.
- Oversee tax, payroll, compliance and statutory requirements.
- Deliver continuous improvement of systems and processes, including ERP optimisation.
- Play a central role in cost efficiency and performance improvement initiatives.
- Lead, coach and develop the finance team.
About You
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA) with strong financial control experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing or FMCG environment. You should be confident managing stock, margins and inventory-related financials. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be comfortable influencing at all levels, and possess a blend of commercial awareness, operational understanding and technical rigour.
